Areas of Responsibility

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's accounting functions. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of accounting principles and regulations.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Provide insightful analysis and commentary on financial performance to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting deadlines.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Collaborate with department heads to develop and maintain the annual budget.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and projections.

Accounts Payable and Receivable

  • Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in processing transactions.
  • Review and approve vendor invoices and customer billing.
  • Manage collections and cash flow to optimize working capital.

Financial Analysis

  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support decision-making.
  • Provide recommendations for improving financial performance and operational efficiency.

Internal Controls

  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and identify areas for improvement.

Tax Compliance

  • Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Prepare and file tax returns accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and provide guidance to management on potential impacts.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and motivate a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support as needed.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the accounting department.
  • Identify training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent related experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Compensation

  • $100,000 to $110,000 depending on experience
