ABOUT THE POSITION

In this position, you will be responsible for planning, leading, coordinating, and performing all the routine functions of the HR and Payroll Department. You will serve as a member of the corporate leadership team, and you will operationalize the organization's strategic goals, initiatives, and programs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform all essential functions of supervision of the HR and Payroll staff including, but not limited to recruit, interview, hire, and train team members; oversee the daily workflow of the team; provide constructive and timely performance reviews; assign and manage tasks; take corrective action and appropriate discipline including terminations
  • Research, develop, manage, perform, and administer all customary HR functions to include talent recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, legal compliance, training and development, employee relations, employee well-being, performance management, career and succession planning, records management, and other relevant administrative tasks and duties
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure legal compliance with Equal Pay laws and to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent
  • Routinely engage supervisors and managers to assess and understand their individual leadership and business challenges; promptly respond as appropriate and provide individual coaching and mentorship as needed
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings, teams, and taskforces
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations; personally investigate sensitive cases such as workplace harassment, EEOC and compensation grievances
  • Ensure legal compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices
  • Ensure the Employee Handbook is updated regularly with the latest policies and practices that are both legally sound and representative of the Company's culture and values
  • Seek and maintain the latest knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, employment law, payroll, and benefits practices
  • Work closely with RISK and Safety
  • Occasionally travel out of state to perform tasks such as audits or investigations; on rare occasions, may require travel on short notice to conduct an investigation
  • Develop and maintain a solid working relationship with branch supervisors, managers, and senior leadership
  • Consistently read and respond to all correspondence
  • Represent the company at various HR professional forums
  • Complete all required training
  • Maintain professional HR certification as required for the position

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in human resource management, business administration, or a related field
  • SHRM-CP or equivalent certification
  • A minimum 5 years of increasing professional-level experience and responsibilities in a human resources department
  • A minimum 2 years of supervisory level experience of at least 2 or more employees
  • Valid driver's license, or ability to obtain by date of hire; must pass driving records check and maintain a driving record that meets the company's standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration, or a related field
  • SHRM-SCP or equivalent certification
  • A minimum 8 years of increasing professional-level experience and responsibilities in a human resources department
  • A minimum 5 years of supervisory level experience of at least 2 or more employees
  • HR experience with or in a multi-state organization
  • Payroll and benefits experience
