Purpose
Functions as team leader for the payroll team. Performs full cycle payroll processing activities, including balancing and processing payroll, inspecting and balancing automated payroll output such as deduction registers and standard reports and the processing of involuntary deductions such as levies, garnishments, bankruptcies and child support. Serves as a contact for all team members and vendors with regard to payroll processes, questions, and concerns. Develops training processes and facilitates training for team members for all payroll processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Team leader for all payroll processes
- Process payroll for 50-60 individuals
- Develop, test and implement scripts for all processes payroll related
- Develop, facilitate and implement training for all team members
- Cross-train payroll team members in processes and procedures
- Research, develop and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy
- Processes payroll for facilities in the absence of site payroll team member
- Audit payroll sign off for accuracy from facilities payroll submission
- Direct liaison between accounting and HR department
- Terminations and transferred employees
- Vendor payments, garnishments, one-time overrides and adjustments
- Tax deposits related to payroll
- Quarterly gain share payouts
- Tuition and education reimbursements
- Stop payments and/or direct deposit reversals
- Verifications of employment
- Prepare and process federal, state and local taxes and reports quarterly
- Conduct internal and external audits related to payroll function
- Provide world class customer service to internal and external customers
- Participate in W2 compilation, processing, and distribution
- Models company core values
Requirements
- Excellent keyboard skills and 10-key by touch
- Ability to work efficiently with a great deal of speed and accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Maintain the highest ethical standards in dealing with confidential information
- Must be multi-task oriented, meet deadlines, work under pressure and work with frequently changing priorities
- Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills
- Ability to work in and maintain a highly functional team environment

Preferred Qualifications
- Prior payroll experience
- Supervisory experience
- Past SAGE software experience
- Multi-state payroll processing experience
- Manufacturing environment experience
- Federal and multi-state tax filing
