Overview
The Senior Procurement Manager plays a pivotal role in optimizing material and product flow within the organization to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery. This position involves overseeing all aspects of materials management, maintaining inventory accuracy, and cultivating strong supplier relationships. The Manager leads a team, devises strategies, and implements measures to enhance sourcing, procurement, and inventory efficiency. Additionally, active participation in quality and safety initiatives is expected.
Responsibilities
Departmental Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 3 to 5 staff members, providing guidance, training, performance evaluations, and fostering professional growth.
- Ensure adherence to established policies and ethical standards.
- Develop and execute production planning, scheduling, and procurement activities, closely monitoring material inventories and production progress.
- Set annual goals and objectives for the purchasing and planning department.
Logistics Planning and Forecasting:
- Analyze customer demand, sales forecasts, and historical usage to formulate comprehensive order and inventory plans.
- Continuously adjust forecasts and quotas based on evolving market conditions.
- Optimize transportation routes and methods to minimize costs and maximize operational efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with import/export regulations.
Sourcing Strategy and Supplier Management:
- Formulate and execute a strategic sourcing strategy to ensure consistent and cost-effective material supply.
- Cultivate robust relationships with both domestic and international suppliers.
- Initiate and oversee supplier contracts and performance metrics.
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on value, quality, delivery schedules, and cost trends.
Measurement and Analysis:
- Analyze inventory data to enhance turnover rates, reduce waste, and elevate customer service.
- Establish, implement, and manage a supplier scorecard system to monitor and report performance.
- Evaluate supplier performance in achieving quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Create tools and reports to facilitate improved tracking, reporting, and analysis of distribution, storage, and inventory processes.
Process Enhancement:
- Spearhead initiatives aimed at boosting supply chain efficiency and efficacy.
- Standardize and optimize inventory, forecasting, purchasing, and quality control processes.
- Develop a system to empower purchasing and planning personnel to make informed procurement decisions.
- Streamline workflows, cycle times, and system flows to eliminate inefficiencies and enhance productivity.
- Stay abreast of current material management tools and technologies.
Quality and Safety Enhancement:
- Utilize metrics to identify and implement enhancements to quality and safety.
- Provide oversight of all quality and safety documentation requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- ERP system experience required
- Demonstrated experience in supply chain management, particularly in procurement, inventory control, and supplier relationship management.
- Strong leadership skills and a successful track record of managing teams.
- Proficiency in analytical tools and methodologies.
- Deep understanding of sourcing strategies, supplier negotiation, and contract management.
- Familiarity with import/export regulations and expertise in logistics optimization.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for fostering relationships and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Solution-oriented mindset with a history of driving process improvements.
- Dedication to upholding quality, safety, and ethical standards.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and supply chain management software.
- ISO9001 experience is a plus
